Reports/Case studiesProfitable eBusiness - Accountancy firm makes using the Internet less taxing - Case StudyWritten by Kevin Doyle (5 Aug 2005) I can tell you that I am tremendously happy that we have qualified for the grant.
We had been considering broadband for a while having suffered several difficulties with "dial-up".
The worst being loss of connection and very slow operation. The grant gave us that last push and we are grateful for that!
Broadband has given us the ability to deal with so many more matters online. We work very closely with the Inland Revenue and need to be able to access information quickly.
We can do this now, even when our client is waiting on the telephone because access is so fast. (we also have an additional telephone line that has been freed up).
Our payrolls can be dealt with via the Internet and we were able to offer online filing of year end data - this alone increased our sales and helped our clients to valuable tax free incentives.
We also connected our broadband via a router. This means that we have a network of computers all capable of Internet connection.
With dial-up we were all desperate to get online and were often frustrated. It has been an enhancement to our business that should have been made much sooner.
Now we have broadband it is difficult to see how we coped without it.
